United Way President/CEO Merle Berke-Schlessel, accompanied by Fairfield Schools Campaign Chairwoman Shirley Okerblom, took advantage of a beautiful day and “hit the road” in Fairfield recently.  Their mission: to personally thank those who worked so hard to ensure the success of the Fairfield Schools Annual United Way Campaign.                                          &nbsp

Six Flags New England Holds United Way Fun Days

United Way’s Director of New Media, JR Logan, presented a 5 hour workshop recently in Norwalk to 40 members of the Fairfield County Chapter of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals on understanding and utilizing social media in their daily professional roles.

CT Kids Back Pack Program Expands to Norwalk

You might be surprised to learn that there are many children in Bridgeport and Norwalk who are hungry when they arrive at school on Monday morning. To respond to this problem, the United Way of Coastal Fairfield County and the CT Food Bank are expanding the CT Kids Back Pack Program to two elementary schools in Norwalk. This program operates in more than 50 schools statewide and distributed about 30,000 Back Packs full of nutritious meals this year.

Cooperative Educational Services and Linda Page, Director of its School Readiness Program, honored United Way and 5 other organizations and individuals today with its first annual Success Through Educational Partnerships Award at the Regional Center for the Arts High School in Trumbull.  We are proud of our partnership with C.E.S. and are glad that our work in providing preschool students and their families with children’s books and literacy workshops to promote reading and literacy in the classroom and at home is making a difference in the C.E.S.
