Financial Resource Center

Can you imagine working several jobs and not making ends meet?  Can you imagine having a family of four and not knowing how you are going to feed them, keep them healthy and pay the rent?  A family of four needs to earn at least 2.5 times the federal poverty level to be considered financially stable in most communities and currently 23% of families fall below that level.

Through United Way's partnership in the Financial Resource Center, working families earning less than $42,000 receive help increasing their income while saving for the future.  Families receive services including Budget Coaching, information about Individual Development Accounts (IDA), access to HUSKY, food vouchers, and free tax preparation services.  The Financial Resource Center is estimated to help over 3,500 families in Bridgeport each year.

United Way joined forces with CAHS, Co-opportunity, The Workplace, Career Resources, FSW, Bridgeport Child Advocacy Coalition, Bank of American and JPMorgan Chase Foundation to establish this comprehensive financial stability initiative and open the Financial Resource Center (FRC) in Bridgeport.

The Financial Resource Center is located at 350 Fairfield Avenue, 6th Floor in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
