Providing Basic Needs
As the nation’s economic crisis deepened and more Fairfield County families found themselves in need of food, shelter and emergency financial assistance, United Way of Coastal Fairfield County and Catholic Charities of Fairfield County joined forces to United Way of Coastal Fairfield County and Catholic Charities joined forces to bring much needed resources into the community for organizations straining to provide these basic needs to a growing number of area residents.
The Neighbor2NeighborUnited effort included a substantial corporate investment from the GE Foundation, philanthropists, corporations, other partners and citizens from every community in our region. Approximately $244k was funded to agencies providing emergency food assistance, and over $384k was granted to organizations providing emergency shelter and financial assistance.
